A.D. Lintelmann Collection

 Collection
Identifier: GRHC 085

Scope and Contents

The A. D. Lintelmann Collection consists of correspondence, 2004; thirty-one maps relating to Russian-German settlement, circa 1955-2005; and four books relating to Russian-German settlement maps, 2000-2001.

The Map Series is the largest series in the collection. Most of the maps depict the settlement patterns of Germans from Russia around the world, with an emphasis on Eastern Europe. Nineteen of the maps were created by German historian Karl Stumpp, circa 1955-1964, and depict such locations as Odessa, Ukraine; Slavgorod, Russia; Orenberg, Russia; the United States; and Mexico. These are black and white, and appear to be professionally printed. Items 2005.07.05- 2005.07.06 are self-published maps designed by Jerry Frank of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 2000. They depict German settlements in Russian Poland and Volhynia, and each map has a guidebook, processed with the Books Series, which describes the contents of the map. The remaining maps are European or world maps, in Russian or German, and come from a variety of sources. Items 2005.07.01- 2005.07.03 are stored within the collection box, the remainder of the maps have been placed in the GRHC’s map press.

The Correspondence Series consists of three pieces of email correspondence between Jerry Frank and Michael Miller regarding the selling of Frank’s maps on the GRHC website. These date from 2001.

The Books Series contains four books: two guides to Jerry Frank’s maps of Russian Poland and Volhynia from 2000, and two copies of the index to David Gilly’s Maps of the Province of South Prussia in the Year 1802- 1803, edited by Reuben Drefs, 2001. One of the copies of Gilly and Drefs’s book has an error in the headings and is noted as such within the book.
