Scope and Contents

The Dr. Ronald Olin Collection consists of a handwritten letter and envelope sent from John P. Doerksen of Giroux, Manitoba to his brother, Henry P. Doerksen of Satanta, Kansas. The letter is dated November 2, 1938. The envelope has a 3 cent King George stamp. The letter is written in pencil on 8” x 10” linen weave tablet paper, with blue lines on one side. John writes about general things, like the weather and wishing Henry a happy birthday.

Biography

Henry P. Doerksen was born in Canada on November 6, 1896. He was born to parents Gerhard and Sarah Doerksen. The Doerksen family immigrated to the United States in 1915, settling in Kansas.

John P. Doerksen was born in Canada around 1903. He was born to parents Gerhard and Sarah Doerksen. The Doerksen family immigrated to the United States in 1915, settling in Kansas.

Ronald Olin was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 17, 1935. He received his medical degrees from the Manitoba Medical College in Winnipeg, graduating in 1959. Dr. Olin practiced medicine at Fargo Clinic and MeritCare in Fargo, ND from 1964 until his retirement in 1988.
