Biography

The Anton and Agatha Tuchscherer Family were Germans from Russia from Colelia, Romania, but were transplanted to Poland when the Nazi Government declared their intentions to relocate all people of German descent to German-held territory. Mr. and Mrs. Tuchscherer had two children, Josef, born in 1935, and Maria, born in 1943. The family was separated when Anton was conscripted into the German Army and stationed in Norway. Mrs. Tuchscherer struggled to survive during this period, starving and working menial jobs for no pay for a family lucky enough to have meager room and board for the young family. After the war, Anton returned home and the family eventually settled in Bienfait, Saskatchewan, Canada. Anton worked in a coal mine and the family eventually owned a home, where Mr. and Mrs. Tuchscherer lived until old age. Anton died in 1995; and Agatha passed away in 2002.
