Scope and Contents

The Emily (Kusler) Miller Collection consists of a photograph and funeral service program and tributes for Edna (Kusler) Kemnitz and two books relating to Kulm, North Dakota. The collection has been organized into two series: Family History and Book.

The Family History Series contains a photograph and copied pages from a tribute and a funeral program. The photograph is a wedding portrait of Edna Lillian Kusler and Lewis F. Kemnitz. It was taken at Kulm, North Dakota. There is a funeral tribute for Edna L. (Kusler) Kemnitz and a funeral program and sermon for her.

The Book Series is comprised of two books of Kulm, North Dakota history. They are the Kulm Centennial book and the Kulm Diamond Jubilee book.

Biography

Edna Lillian Kusler was born 22 December 1901, to Adam and Regina (Serr) Kusler on a farm near Lesterville, South Dakota. She married Lewis F. Kemnitz on 7 November 1921. Lewis died on 12 October 1944 in Forman, North Dakota. Edna died in Minneapolis, Minnesota on 15 June 1999 and was buried in the Congregational Cemetery in Kulm, North Dakota.

Emilia Kusler was born on 14 July 1904 in Kulm, North Dakota, to Johann and Magdalena (Grosz/ Gross) Kusler. She married Novel Miller on 23 December 1939. Novel died on 24 July 1972 in Morton, Washington.

Both Adam (1876-1966) and Johann (1871-1957) Kusler were sons of Johann and Christina Schaefer Kusler. They emigrated from Worms, Beresan District, South Russia (today north of Odessa, Ukraine).
