Scope and Contents

The Theodore Maier Collection consists of thirteen theological books printed in Germany, dating from the 1860s to 1930. Some of the authors represented within this collection are Karl Gerok, Carl F. W. Walther, Carl H. Rohe, and W. Zieth, There is also a German-language Bible. Also contained within the collection are one lithographic print of Martin Luther, circa 1890, song sheet in German, a pamphlet on Confirmation and two prayer cards. The collection has been organized into two series: Book and Subject.

Biography

Theodore Maier was born November 13, 1912 near Ashley, North Dakota. Theodore farmed around Ashley, ND with his father. He took over operating the family farm in 1935. Theodore married Viola Sakmann on October 20, 1935, and the couple had three daughters: Marilyn, Amy, and Sharon. Theodore retired from farming in 1987 after his wife died. Theodore Maier died on April 11, 2004 at the age of ninety-one.
