Scope and Contents

The Wilhelm Wagner Book Collection consists of two German language books, dating from 1884 to the 1890s, associated with the Wilhelm Wagner family of McLean County, North Dakota. The first book (2009.12.01) is a music history book published in 1884. A label inside of the book reads: “Herbert Wagner.” The second book (2009.12.02), published in the 1890s, is for children and it is on evangelists and their work in distant lands. An inscription inside of the book is partially visible and it reads: “Ch__ W. Wagner und Familie für … WWA Keller, Pastor.”

Biography

Wilhelm “William” Wagner was born February 28, 1877 in Russia. He later married Caroline Berg, who was also born in Russia. The couple immigrated to the United States, settling on a farm near Turtle Lake, McLean County, North Dakota. Wilhelm “William” Wagner died on January 16, 1949.
