Alice (Woehl) Buerkley Collection
Scope and Contents
The Alice (Woehl) Buerkley Collection consists of two German language hymnals from the Berlin and Fredonia Baptist Church in McIntosh County, North Dakota; dating to 1897 and 1927.
The first book, Evangeliums-Leider 1 und 2 [2008.01.01], dates to 1897. It has “Eigentum der Fredonia Baptisten Kirche” stamped inside of it. Inscribed inside the front cover is “Fredonia & Berlin Baptist Church.” Inscribed on the flyleaf is “Donated by Herb and Alice Buerkley.”
The second book, Ausgewaehlte lieder des Evangeliums [2008.01.02], dates to 1927. It has “Ebenezer Gemeinde, Deutsch-American Baptisten zu Detroit, Michigan” stamped inside the front cover. Inscribed inside front cover is “Berlin Baptist Church of rural Fredonia, N. Dak.” Inscribed on the flyleaf is “Donated by Herbert and Alice Buerkley.”
