Scope and Contents

The Doris (Ost) Palmer Collection consists of five theology books that belonged to members of the Roloff and Herrich families. All of the books are in the German language and date from 1845 to 191_? The majority of the books are in fair to good condition.



There were also a few bookmarks and newspaper clippings found in some of the books. These materials have been put into a separate folder.

Biography

John Roloff was born on June 20, 1886 in Kulm, Bessarabia. He was the son of John and Caroline (Schlenker) Roloff. In 1910, John immigrated to the United States with his family, latter settling near Fredonia, North Dakota. On March 30, 1916, John married Fredericka Hettich, and the couple had one daughter: Viola. John died on April 10, 1952. Fredericka died on November 20, 1981.

Viola (Roloff) Ost was born on May 18, 1928 to parents John and Fredericka (Hettich) Roloff. On March 25, 1949, Viola married Oscar Ost, and the couple had three children: Dale, Lyle, and Doris.

Doris (Ost) Palmer was born on May 20, 1957 to parents Oscar and Viola (Roloff) Ost. She was born in Wishek, North Dakota. Doris attended and graduated high school from Lehr, North Dakota in 1975. She later attended college at NDSCS in Wahpeton, North Dakota. On March 19, 1988, Doris married Boyd Palmer, and the couple had one daughter: LeeAnn. Doris (Ost) Palmer currently resides in Fargo, North Dakota with her family.
