Scope and Contents
The Esther (Schlecht) Fiechtner Collection consists of one bible belonging to the Fiechtner family, (Die Bibel oder die ganze Heilige Schrift des alten und neues Testaments nach der deutschen Ueberfetzung Dr. Martin Luthers, St. Louis: Concordia Publishing House, pages 1079 and 311).
The bible was given to John Fiechtner from his mother, Sophia (Ottenbaucher) Fiechtner, in 1936. Inscribed in the book: “Johan Fiechtner/ Zum andenken von seiner Mutter/ Sofia Fiechtner 1936 im Jahr./ Mein sohn fuer ge____bis in im Todt.” The German saying translates to “my son be truthful till the end of death.”
Inscribed on the Family Register page: “Copulation/ Getraut am 11ten Juli 1935 durch Herrn Pastor H. von Gemmingen in der Lutheran Kirche zu King, N. Dak. Geboren: den 25th April 1910 Sohn von Wilhelm Fiechtner und Sophie Fiechtner mit Esther Schlecht geboren: den 21ten Nov. 1915 Tochter von Michael Schleckt und Elizabeth Schlecht. Zeugen: Godhielf Schlecht /Jacob W Fiechtner.”

Biography
John Fiechtner was born on April 25, 1910 in South Russia. His parents were Wilhelm and Sophia (Ottenbaucher) Fiechtner. On July 11, 1935, John Fiechtner married Esther Schlecht in Lehr, North Dakota. John Fiechtner died on August 11, 1969 at the age of fifty-nine.
Esther (Schlecht) Fiechtner was born on November 21, 1915 in Gackle, North Dakota. She was born to parents Michael and Elizabeth (Dalke) Schlecht. On July 11, 1935, Esther married John Fiechtner.
