Scope and Contents

The Harper’s Weekly Collection consists of two fragment pages from Harper’s Weekly magazine with photographs and articles on the back. One page has colorized images and the other is in black and white. The articles are on the German-Russian Colony in Eureka, South Dakota and other regional locations. Both fragments are pages 689 and 690 of the 11 July 1896 edition of Harper’s Weekly. Harper’s Weekly magazine published this historic text along with hand-colored photographs of Germans from Russia who emigrated to Eureka, South Dakota, and other locations in the Dakotas.
