The Ida (Goll) Hamilton Collection consists of one book in the German language: [no title page] von Bogatzky, Karl Heinrich Güldenes Schatz-Kästlein der Kinder Gottes, deren Schatz im Himmel ist : bestehend in auserlesenen Sprüchen der Heiligen Schrift, nach der Ordnung der heiligen Bücher, samt beygefügten erbaulichen Anmerkungen und Reimen, 2. Theil, Halle : Verlag der Buchhandlung des Waisenhauses, no date [1852?], pages 365; bound with, von Bogatzky, Karl Heinrich Güldenes Schatz-Kästlein der Kinder Gottes, deren Schatz im Himmel ist : bestehend in auserlesenen Sprüchen der Heiligen Schrift, nach der Ordnung der heiligen Bücher, samt beygefügten erbaulichen Anmerkungen und Reimen, Theil, 38th edition, Halle : Verlag der Buchhandlung des Waisenhauses 1854, pages 372. The book has an official stamp in Cyrillic on the second extant page with “2” and ‘Konlnkk.” The book is in fair condition. Only a little surface remains on both covers, the spine is worn, and the title pages through page 2 are missing.

A note from the donor read, “I’ve been told this book belonged to my father. Brought it with him when he came to America. My father was Rudolph Goll. Born May 22, 1885. Died in Tuttle, No. Dak. January 22, 1962.”

Biography

Rudolph Goll was born in South Russia on May 22, 1885. At the age of 13 he immigrated to the United States with his family, settling near Harvey, North Dakota. In 1906, Rudolph Goll homesteaded south of Tuttle, North Dakota. On November 25, 1906, Rudolph Goll married Magdalena Horning. From this marriage, eight children were born and survived into adulthood: Lydia, Kathryn, Edwin, Emma, Ida, Fred, Adam, and Theodore. Rudolph Goll took an active role in the building of his community. In 1915, he helped organize the Tuttle Farmers Elevator. Rudolph Goll died on January 18, 1962. Magdalena (Horning) Goll died on January 8, 1963.

Ida Goll was born to Rudolph and Magdalena (Horning) Goll around the year 1919. Ida Goll married William W. Hamilton on June 1, 1949. William and Ida (Goll) Hamilton had 3 children: Fredrick, Gregory, and Michael.
