Scope and Contents
The Ida (Zeh) Bender Collection consists of family history information on John and Magdalena (Brandner) Zeh and two books in the German language. The collection has been organized into two series: Family History and Book.
The Family History Series contains two pages of information on the John and Magdalena (Brandner) Zeh family, which was compiled by Norm and Audrey Roth.
The Book Series is comprised of two books in the German language. They are dated 1902 and circa 1905. Information received during the donation indicates that the books were given to Ida (Zeh) Bender from her parents.

Biography
John Zeh was born on February 9, 1896 in Borodino, Bessarabia. He was a son of Conrad and Christina (Scheffelmeier) Zeh. He immigrated with his parents to the United States in 1914, eventually settling in North Dakota. On June 12, 1919, John Zeh married Magdalena “Maggie” Brandner. The couple moved to a farm south of Elgin, North Dakota, and they had thirteen children. John Zeh died on July 18, 1959 at the age of 63. Magdalena died on April 9, 1985 at the age of 88.
Ida (Zeh) Bender was born on July 23, 1936 to parents John and Magdalena (Brandner) Zeh. On September 15, 1963, Ida married Charles Bender. They made their home in Elgin, North Dakota and raised two sons: Perry and Clinton.
