Irmgard (Oberlander) Stickelmyer Collection
Scope and Contents
The Irmgard (Oberlander) Stickelmyer Collection consists of two copied photographs, three cabinet photographs, and an obituary relating to the Oberlander family.
The first two images (2012.28.01 – 2012.28.02) were printed at the same studio in Odessa. The first photograph is of a couple, Friedrich and Christina (Brose) Oberlander, and the second is of a family, the Oberlander family. Both images date from around 1890 to 1894.
The three prints are all outdoor images. They include a street view of a town, a threshing crew, and a farmstead; dating from 1910 to 1920.
The photocopied obituary is for Christine Oberlander, who was the grandmother of Irmgard (Oberlander) Stickelmyer. The obituary is entirely in German and dates to 1925.

Biography
Friedrich Oberlander was born in 1863 in Russia. Christina Brose was born in 1869 in Russia. The couple was married in 1890, and they would eventually have ten children. Friedrich and Christina (Brose) Oberlander immigrated to the United States in 1890, settling in Campbell County, South Dakota.
Irmgard (Oberlander) Stickelmyer was born on April 30, 1929 to parents Fred and Ida (Oster) Oberlander. She was the second of five children. Irmagard’s father, Fred, was a son of Friedrich and Christina (Brose) Oberlander. In 1949, Irmgard married Norman Stickelmyer, and they made their home in Eureka, South Dakota.
