Biography
Author Theodor von Bernhardi (1803-1887) was a German-born diplomat and historian living in Germany and Russia.
Pastor A.W. Werder of Wheeling, West Virginia acquired two in a set of four books from the library at Capital University, Bexley (near Columbus), Ohio in 1875 and 1878. Albert William Werder was born in Württemberg, Germany in 1839, and came to America with his parents. He attended Lutheran seminary in Columbus, Ohio, graduating in June of 1864. Following graduation, Pastor Werder served for over 25 years at St. James German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wheeling, West Virginia. Werder died in 21 Nov 1916 in Ohio County, West Virginia.
The Rev. Dr. Leland Elhard was born 3 Sept 1931, in LaMoure County, North Dakota. Elhard attended North Dakota Agricultural College, Fargo, North Dakota, and Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. Elhard was ordained in 1960 and received his Doctor of Divinity in 1965. He taught for 36 years at Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, Ohio. Elhard studied to discover more about his Germans from Russian heritage. He died 26 Jun 2010 in Bismarck, North Dakota.
