Scope and Contents

The Magdalene (Leier) Riedlinger consists of a family Bible from Freidendental that belonged to the Riedlinger family. The date of the Bible is unknown. In the collection, there is also some material that was found in the Bible. These materials include a lined letter paper with list of births 1905-1917 and a lined letter paper with transcript of an uncited newspaper article, “Pneumonia Claims Baby,” from October 1936.

Biography

Magdalene “Maggie” Leier was born on March 16, 1936 to John and Helen (Johs) Leier. On September 10, 1975, Magdalene married Wilbert “Willie” Riedlinger, who was the son of Adam and Susanna (Schatz) Reidlinger. The couple had seven children: Janice, Karen, John, Cynthia, Carla, Shari, and Jane. Wilbert Riedlinger died on March 5, 1995.
