Scope and Contents
The Marvin & Delores (Just) Meidinger Collection consists of one snapshot, a postcard, ephemera, and two theology books. The majority of the collection is undated, but one book dates to after 1877, another dates to 1916, and the postcard dates to 1945. The collection has been organized into three series: Image, Ephemera, and Book.
The Image Series contains two items: a snapshot and a postcard. The snapshot is of an unidentified man standing in a garden in front of a picket fence and a porch of a house. The postcard is to Mrs. Fred Meidinger of Wishek, North Dakota from M/M Emil Thurn & family. The postcard is dated December 20, 1945. On the front of the postcard is a print of the holy family in a stable with three sheep.
The Ephemera Series is comprised of a religious card and a worship program. The religious card has a color image of the pharaoh’s daughter and Moses with German text at the bottom. The worship program has a color image of Jesus on the front. Inscribed on the bottom is “Ev. Luth. St. Lufas Gemeinde, Wishek, N.D.” The inside of the program has printed text in the German language. In the program, the pastor is listed as G.C. Landgrebe.
The Book Series has two theology books. One of the books is in German and the other book (2011.38.08) is in German and English. Most of the books are undated. One of the books in the collection, Holy Bible (2011.38.08) contains family records.
