Scope and Contents

The Randy Woehl Collection contains information and photographs of his family. Names included are Bader, Klambach, Kramlich, Rott, Roloff, Schilling, Stoecker, and Woehl. Also included are the History of Lydia Bader and Nathional Roloff and the Hochhalter, Roloff Family History.



The collection contains many family group sheets and lists of Randy’s family members. The process of digitizing this collection was extensive, therefore created many correspondence records which have been retained and added to the collection.



All of the photographs were scanned. The digital versions can be found on flickr, a link can be found in the External Resources section.

Biography

Randy R. Woehl is son of Arthur and Marion Leah (Schweigert) Woehl. Arthur was born in Fredonia, ND to Gustav and Christina Woehl on July 31, 1931. He died on April 28, 1990 and is buried in Kulm, ND. Marion was born to Reinhold and Leah Anna Kramlich. Arthur and Marion married on June 19, 1960.



Gustav “Gust” Woehl was born to Philipp and Christina (Rott) Woehl on April 6, 1899 in McIntosh, ND.



From the Kulm 65th Jubilee book: “Philip Woehl was born February 2, 1869 in Rohrback, South Russia. At the age of nineteen he came to the United States, arriving at Scotland, South Dakota in 1888. In 1891, Mr. Woehl was united in marriage with Christina Rott at Scotland, South Dakota. After four years in South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Woehl, together with a few other pioneers, moved to North Dakota, where Mr. Woehl filed on a homestead twelve miles south of Fredonia. Their first house was maed of rocks and bricks made of clay. This was their home until 1908 when a new frame house was built. In the early years Mr. Woehl was an auctioneer. Many sales of various types were cried by Mr. Woehl. He also travelled with cattle and horse buyers, which seemed to be his hobby.



Mrs. Woehl passed away in 1930. Later, Mr. Woehl married Rosina Baetch of Streeter, N.D. They lived in Streeter until Mrs. Woehl passed away on January 19, 1956. Mr. Woehl passed away on April 23, 1956 at a hospital in Jamestown, N. D.



Eleven children were born by his first marriage, seven of whom are living, they are: Elizabeth, Mrs. Pete Anderest, Medicine Hat, Canada; Gust, Fredonia, N. D.; Bertha, Mrs. Jake Schaffer, Carrington, N. D.; Henry, of Fredonia, N. D.; Eva, Mrs. Adam Rott, McLaughlin, S. D.; Albert, Fredonia, N. D.; Dena, Mrs. Otto Netz, Wenatchee, Washington.
