“Cleo and Joan J. Boschee have been residents of Wishek since the fall of 1973. They are both involved in education and are employed by the Wishek Public School. Mr. Boschee is the elementary and secondary principal and Mrs. Boschee is a business and office technology instructor and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) advisor.

Cleo is the son of Gideon and Lillian (Koepplin) Boschee. He was born April 14, 1942 at Jamestown, ND. He attended rural schools in Logan County and graduated from Lehr Public School in 1960. Cleo continued his education at Jamestown College, Jamestown, and received his bachelor of science degree with a major in biology. In 1968, he obtained his master’s degree from Northern State College, Aberdeen, SD.

Joan was born on her parents’ farm 18 miles southwest of Wishek on December 12, 1942. She attended rural Frieda School District and graduated from Wishek High School in 1960. After graduation, Joan attended Dakota Business College in Fargo.

Cleo’s first teaching position was in the Edgeley Public School system and Joan was employed by the Security National Bank, Edgeley, ND.

In August 1969, Cleo and Joan moved to Grand Forks where Cleo was employed with the Grand Forks Public School system at the Air Force Base. They began a small business in ranching.

In the fall of 1973, Cleo became the elementary and secondary principal at Wishek Public School. Cleo has received many local, state, and national awards. Among them being student council advisor of the year and Principal of the Year for the state of North Dakota.

The Cleo Boschees are members of St. Luke Lutheran Church and various organizations. They enjoy collecting antiques and have a comprehensive collection of Theodore Roosevelt memorabilia.
