Scope and Contents

1. Cabinet photograph of a wedding couple, groom is seated. Has wedding bow next to boutonniere. Trousers have creases. Bride wears dark blue dress with cream [machine] lace accents on the sleeves and the capelet collar. Sleeves loose to elbow then tight to wrist. Short, plain white upstanding collar at neckline. Bodice is full at waist with gathers. Inscribed on back of photograph “[Mr.] and Mrs. Christian Ziegler.”



2. Wedding dress Information from donor on separate sheet: Wedding dress of Katharina Friederich Ziegler. Katharina Friederich married Christian Ziegler in 1905 in Scotland, South Dakota. Both grew up in South Dakota where their parents homesteaded after arriving in the United States from Russia. After they wed, Katharina and Christian homesteaded 26 miles Northeast of Richardton, North Dakota. They established the farmstead and engaged in farming and raising cattle. They raised six children on the farm: Edgar, Ernest, Ada, Arthur, Herbert and Olivia. After they retired and moved to Hebron, their son Herbert took over the farming operation.





Note by staff: Herbert Ziegler, a son of Katharina and Christian, married Dorothea Bergstedt 30 May 1943. Katharina and Christian were married on 29 Dec 1905.
