1. Schmalz, Alex P. Family Historical Sketch Schmalz and Neiss, sp, 1971.

2. (copied) photograph of threshing scene. Gas tractor at left with belt running to separator in distance on the right. Straw pile behind separator. Seven men stand in front of equipment. Four men stand on horse-drawn bale wagons in distance. At least six horses are visible. Shadow of photographer and camera seen at lower left. Unidentified item blurry at bottom center. Photo was taken on the Alex Kraft farm near Barton, Pierce County, North Dakota.

3. (copied) family photograph. Franz and Brigetta (Kraft) Neiss family before they left Strassburg, Russia. Man and woman seated with oval table between them. Two girls stand on mother’s side and two boys on father’s side. Donor identified people [on left side of table, left to right] as Martina, Brigetta (Kraft) b. 9-22-1860, d. 11-29-1928 dau of Ferdinand Kraft and Katherina Senger; (standing) Juliana b. 10-11-1892 (mar. Joe Schmalz 9-8-1912); John. [On right side of table, left to right] Frank Neiss b. 5-29-1868, d. 5-3-1928; Frank Jr. Brigetta and Frank married in 1891 in Strasburg. They arrived in Baltimore, MD 5-4-1910. Not appearing in photo later child Christina b. 12-2-1912. [note X’d by donor: baby Philamina d. winter 1910-11 of diphtheria.]

4. (copied) photograph of gathering at wedding. Taken in front of house under a tree, over 100 individuals visible. Waiters wear white aprons stand higher behind group. Four? Men recline in front. Accordian is visible on the left. Three chickens are in the foreground. John and Frank Neiss and Alex Kraft are identified. Wedding before 5/ 1910 of Anton Fettig and Catherine Kraftt wedding took place in Strassburg, Russia.

5. (copied) photograph of gather at wedding. Taken in front of house with gable roof. Over seventy individuals visible. One aproned waiter is seated at lower left. Three men stand in front of window with two having glasses raised. Fellow seated in lower front is drinking from a bottle. An accordion and two fiddles are visible on the left. Pete, August and Eva are identified. Keller/ Kraft wedding took place near Karlsruhe, McHenry County, North Dakota. [From email by donor: Both my grandfathers Alex Kraft and John Neiss are in both wedding photos.]
