Biographical / Historical
Prior to the formation of the College of Science and Mathematics in March of 1973, the departments and
areas of study which make up the current College of Science and Mathematics went through many
changes and shuffles since the founding of the North Dakota Agricultural College in 1890.
In March of 1973 the Board of Higher Education approved the reorganization of the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Chemistry and Physics to reduce the disparity in size and complexity. The two new colleges formed were the College of Humanities and Social Sciences the College of Science and Mathematics.
