Francis Hall was originally built as a men's dormitory in the 1893. Due to the growth of NDAC, it was converted into classroom and laboratories in 1899. Francis Hall was torn down in 1961. The Engineering Building (South Engineering) was built in 1907 and opened in 1908. The building was devoted almost exclusively to the course in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Steam Engineering and Physics. The Birdseye View shows Minard Hall in the foreground. Also seen are the Mechanical Arts building, South Engineering, Festival Hall, Old Main and Ceres Hall.
