When opened in January of 1923, Morrill Hall housed the laboratories, classrooms and offices of the School of Agriculture making it the only campus building solely devoted to agriculture. Today, it houses the College of Agriculture, Food Systems and Natural Resources, as well as the Agricultural Experiment Station and the Cooperative Extension Service. Construction of the Chemistry Building began in 1910 after an explosion and subsequent fire destroyed the first Chemistry Building on December 24, 1909. In 1952, the Chemistry Building became officially known as Ladd Hall in honor of President E. F. Ladd who was also the first dean of the School of Chemistry and the planner of the chemistry building. |
