Daniel E. Olson
was born December 7, 1915 in Bagley, Minnesota. He
lived in Jamestown, North Dakota before coming to Fargo in 1931.
He was educated at Fargo Central High School, Los Angeles
Institute of Photography, Los Angeles Art Center School and the
Winona, Illinois School of Photography.
He
married Ellen Marie Endersbee on December 30, 1950. She
was born on July 17, 1918 in Moorhead. They and their three children
Mary Ellen, Jeanne, and Earl lived in Fargo where Mr. Olson worked
out of a studio at his home. Dan also worked for a
period of time starting in 1949, for the Scherling
Studio. He was a Commercial Council member for the North Dakota
Professional Photographers of America, and president of Professional
Photographers of North Dakota.
He
was very active in Fargo community affairs. During
his years as a photographer, Mr. Olson photographed Presidents Eisenhower
and Kennedy, and Governor Nelson Rockefeller.
He
died on September 9, 1966 in Fargo at the age of 50. After
his death, Ellen continued on with the studio until 1974.
She died on October 11, 1991 in Minneapolis.
