Clifton L. Voss was born in Waterville, Minnesota on August 28, 1889.  On July 28, 1918 he married Grace McClure, and together they had two children, Leslie and Eloise.  Mr. Voss had been involved in studio photography prior to coming to Fargo in 1933. 

Voss won the earned degree of Master of Photography three times. He was a member of the Camera Craftsmen of America, the American Society of Photographers, and Photographers Society of America.  He was elected president of the Photographers Association of America in 1951.

In 1953 Mr. Voss retired and Archie Dewey took over his studio.  Mr. and Mrs. Voss moved to California where Mrs. Voss died in 1962.  Clifton returned to Fargo in about 1965, and he died on June 3, 1971 at Bethany Towers at the age of 81.
