Prince Gustavus of Sweden
Crown Prince Gustaf Adolph and Princess Louise of Sweden toured the northwestern states by train in June 1926. On June 26, the royal pair stopped in Fargo for 20 minutes.
Departing that morning from St. Paul where they had stayed overnight with the Frank B. Kelloggs, the couple arrived by special Northern Pacific train at 5:12 PM. The block of Broadway through which the NP tracks pass was blocked to traffic as thousands thronged to see the royal couple.
L.B. Hanna, chairman of the reception committee presented the prince and Mayor J.H. Dahl made a brief talk welcoming the prince who made a short address from the rear platform of the train.
Similar 20 minute stops were made in Jamestown and Bismarck, ND, and Billings and Livingston, Montana, as the train headed west to Yellowstone Park where the royal couple planned to spend several days.
