Railroad Bridge
On the lower left corner of the map, we can see the Northern pacific Railroad bridge across the Red River and the lower bridge for foot and wagon traffic. In the lower center we can see the steamboat landing. One steamboat is steaming south and several appear under construction. The height of the footbridge clearly indicates that steamboats were not going south of Fargo.
At this time, one can see that Front Street (later Main Avenue) simply ends at the river.
Near the upper center, one can see a "14" on Front Street just west of First Avenue. This building is the Minnesota House, a hotel with H. O. Kjos as proprietor.
