Isis Theater

The Isis, located at 218 Broadway, opened in 1913. The theater was originally owned by the McCarthy Brothers who sold the theater to Floyd Junkin in 1914. The advertisement shown to the right is from the 1940s. The bottom image as taken the night the Isis burned on November 19, 1955. The fire consumed both the Isis Theater and the Isis Hotel. There were 60 patrons in the theater when the fire started about 4:50 PM. They were all evacuated without incident. About 20 people were left homeless with the destruction of the hotel. Fifty-seven fire fighters, including three from Casselton and four from Moorhead battled the blaze. Two fire fighters were hospitalized from smoke inhalation.
