Early Fargo Survey Party

Early Fargo survey party.

The image is one-half of a stereoview photograph by Caswell & Davy, photographers from Duluth, Minnesota. On the front is written "View in Fargo, Dakota" and on the back is written "Survey Party." On the tent in the center is the logo "NPRR." This may be the survey party led by Thomas Canfield that helped establish Fargo. Note the formal wear of both the men and the women, and that the group had five children with them.
