dc.description.abstract | This is a proposed Water Resource Experiment Station for the Missouri River, located in Linton, North Dakota. The project explores sensitivity to site, water properties, sustainability, and unique structural systems. A major design problem with the project involved the use of constructed wetlands to clean waste water from the laboratory and rain water harvesting from the building’s exterior to add fresh water to the clean waste water for the use of the laboratory. Other private elements of the program include an experimental apparatus room, staff offices, conference rooms and work rooms. The building is also open to the public year-round for educational purposes. Therefore, a beautiful gallery space exhibiting the landscape is the focal point of the plan, with exploration of the building and grounds encouraged. The building aims to bring attention to water issues in both form and function. | en_US |
