dc.description.abstractAn overview of various wheat varieties on North Dakota from 1842 to the early 1940's is covered in detail. Red Fife came from Canada in 1842. Other varieties emerged to fill the gap. Cross breeding produced new varieties. Winter resistant varieties proved unsuccessful. Most varieties introduced in forefront usage in 1944 were the product of cross breeding experiments within the past 10 years. Various tolerance levels to wheat rust and other wheat ailments in these varieties are covered.
