Visual images add dimension to the historical record and constitute one of the NDSU Institute for Regional Studies’ most valuable resources. Collecting and preserving of historical images has been the Institute's focus since its founding in 1950. There are more than 100,000 items in this collection, representing almost every aspect of North Dakota life. Images in this collection include sod houses, pioneer life, state agriculture, social scenes, and views of North Dakota cities and towns.
