Overview The Aagot Raaen Papers consist of photocopies of the original papers at the Hatton-Eielson Museum and Historical Association, copied with their permission. Her diaries from Sept. 1939 to Sept. 1941 are very detailed, documenting her teaching in the Newburgh community, personal feelings, and social affairs. The handwritten 1873-1938 "diary" (ca. 42 leaves) as Raaen called it, is more accurately a chronology of her life and of the Raaen family compiled many years later. The family papers include...

Abstract Letter (5 leaves) written by Mr. Ewen concering his parents Daniel C. and Josephine Ewen, their education and that of Mr. Ewen's children; some family history and Ewen's obituary is included. Mr. Ewen's father worked for Datus Smith on the Cloverleaf Farm.

Scope and Contents The Carrie Busby Collection was received from Mrs. H.L. Walster of Fargo in 1963. Carrie had worked for Mrs. Walster while she lived in Fargo. Apparently Miss Busby left these photographs and papers at the Walster home. The personal papers have been organized as Manuscript 288. Abstract Includes three teacher registers covering the time period of 1883-1889, 1901-1904 and 1913-1916. They include students’ names, teachers, attendance, and grades. There are also several teacher reports to the county superintendent of schools.

Abstract Collection, organized by district number, consists of the official forms submitted by the local school districts to the superintendent's office. They include clerks' annual reports, poll books, tally lists, official returns, certificates of election, teachers' reports, and treasurers reports. Most but not all school districts are included. Correspondence not included.
