Photocopies of his typed articles: "Large farms and ranches" and "The Chicago ranch." "Large farms and ranches" (8 leaves) concerns the large farming operations in southern Stutsman, LaMoure, and Logan counties in N.D. "The Chicago ranch" (34 leaves) concerns a large farm located near Montpelier, N.D. An introductory note (3 leaves) to both articles is also included. Papers are based on information from newspaper clippings and interviews with former employee, Sam Kenny. Includes mention of visitors to the ranches, the owners, their social and business activities as mentioned in area newspapers, the contrasts between the bonanza farm lands and this area, and the sale of the Chicago Ranch by Weller Van Hook to Fred and Mary Gray Lee.
