Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Chalimonczyk Family Papers Collection roughly dates from the early 1940’s through the 1990’s. The Collection was donated by the wife (Donna) of Eric Chalimonczyk after his passing. The collection is mostly comprised of correspondence from other Polish refugees and small notebooks that Eric recorded his memories and experiences in. Among the collection are handwritten and printed poems and stories, written by Eric and others he corresponded with. The collection contains papers in Polish regarding a German school reunion being held in Canada, and a scrapbook of newspaper articles detailing the Korean War and other related papers. The beginning of the collection contains miscellaneous documents, arranged chronologically, followed by the undated miscellaneous documents in no specific order. Following the miscellaneous documents is a Korean War scrapbook, followed by the correspondence, arranged chronologically, followed by his journals and poetry. Given the language barrier faced by the person accessioning the collection, there may be nuances in the content that could better benefit from translation expertise. The collection is comprised of four boxes and 72 folders, spanning 3.5 linear feet.
