Scope and Contents

The General Organization Documents Series consists of various documents related to Fargo-Moorhead PLAG in original chronological order 1988-2003. They include programs, membership list, a brochure draft, various letters, news releases, financial statements, conference brochures and a number of events items. There is the ‘Proclamation’ by Fargo Mayor Jon G. Lindgren in 1988 proclaiming ‘June 27 to July 1, 1988 as Gay and Lesbian Awareness Week.’
The Newsletter Series includes Fargo-Moorhead PFLAG issues from 1988 to 2004. The initial title was ‘Parents Flag’ from August 9, 1988 to July 1995. The title was changed with the September 1995 issue to “The Rainbow Press.” They also are larger and the format is more extensive with articles.
The Newspaper Clippings Series were originally in a binder organized in two sections and they are maintained in the original order. Both include several brochures. The first section consists primarily of articles related to the organization, events and individuals. They are organized chronologically 19922005. Almost none have where they were published but likely many are from The Forum newspaper. “High Plains Reader” is stated with one. The second section consists primarily of articles from newspapers and magazines across the United States from 1996-2003. It includes the summer 2000 issue of Rainbow Families of Minneapolis, Minn., FM Pride program of 2002, High Plains Reader, New York Times, Star Tribune and others.
The Photographs Series consists of color photocopies of over 150 photographic prints in an album documenting events and people of the organization. The annual Award event images were arranged chronological in the album from 1995 to 2002. They all have identification with them. Most include articles likely related to the following section photographs. The last section consists primarily of the parades in various places. There are also several photographs of events. The original photographs were place in the photograph collection and with color photocopies of all in this series.
