Scope and Contents

From the Collection: These Rebekah Assembly Records document the activities of the organization from 1949-1992, though most of the material is from the 1970s and 1980s. It complements an earlier donation processed as Mss 150. The majority of the collection concerns the organization, financial standing, and yearly status of the club. The collection is comprised of eight series: Bylaws, Organization, Correspondence, Reports, Membership, Subject, Proceedings, and Records. The Bylaws series consists of the organization’s bylaws, written in 1967 and reprinted in 1979. The second series, Organization, consists of the Assembly’s guidelines and procedures. The contents of the third series, Correspondence, include two letters written to the Assembly. One is from the national association regarding a float in the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California. The other acknowledges receipt of a donation. The fourth series, Reports, is comprised of the reports relating to the organization. The president’s annual reports regarding the Assembly’s standing from 1967-1989 are included, though some years are missing. Additionally, year-end financial reports of the organization from 1969-1986 are present as well. The fifth series, Membership, is comprised of the directories of the Assembly. Directories from the years 1965, 1968, 1973, 1988, and 1989 are included. The sixth series is the Subject series. Found here are programs for various events from 1972-1992, initiation forms, and documents relating to special ceremonies and memorials. Additionally, there is a small scrapbook made up of newspaper clippings, presumably involving members and their families.

The seventh series, Proceedings, consists of annual editions of the Journal of Proceedings of the Rebekah Assembly of North Dakota, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. These are staple-bound publications, and are from years 1979-1980, 1983-1984, and 1986-1990. The final series, Subject Files, is comprised of five entry books relating to the Assembly’s activities. Included is an undated meeting minutes book, two volumes containing miscellaneous information, a ledger, and the roll call for gatherings from 1951-1985.
