Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Albert Hoiland Papers consists mostly of patents for his various inventions. The correspondence for 1931 consists of copies of reference letters to Governor Shafer concerning Mr. Hoiland's appointment to the North Dakota Board of Highway Commissioners which he did not receive. The land patent is for the land he homesteaded near Kathryn. The Patent Series contains the actual patents granted and other various related papers. The car guide and cow trainer files contain only promotional literature, and the flying machine patent is a typed copy. The freight car door file also includes a Canadian patent. The wild oats separator files are the most complete with its patent, articles and promotional literature. It also includes the actual patents from Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Argentina, and Australia.
