Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Pierce County Council of Homemakers’ Clubs Records document the activities of the council, particularly in the 1980s and early 1990s. The earliest document is the council’s constitution of 1958 that was approved at its Spring 1958 meeting. The General files include listings of the clubs in the county together with membership and list of officers of each. There are only two meeting minutes of the council in 1984 and 1986. The financial ledgers cover from 1971 to 1991 in three separate binders, although there are gaps in the records. In addition there are some printed treasurer’s reports and other financial forms. Finally, there is a photocopy of a two-page handwritten historical sketch of the Modern Homemakers Club written in celebration of its 50th anniversary in 1979.
