Begins with his farm at Mjoadal, Iceland; each year lists events by month, includes living expenses, income, and references to weather, friends, his correspondence, Literary Society membership, farming, and family members. Also notes how long he has lived in this location, and years of his marriage. Contains 10 page introduction with explanation of Icelandic terms and method of reckoning time, possibly written by Magnus B. Johnson.

Born at Bardardal Valley, Sudur-Thingyjarsysla district, Iceland. Married Sigurbjorg Stefansdottir. Emigrated 1873 to Shawano, Wisc. and moved 1880 to Gardar, N.D. and farmed there.
