Fargo Moorhead All-America City 2000 Committee Records

 Collection
Identifier: Mss 312

Scope and Contents

The records of the Fargo Moorhead All-America City 2000 Committee consist of a variety of materials related to the campaign. The bulk of the records is correspondence and application materials; however, of unique interest are three folders containing awards and certificates. Nearly all of the material is from 2000, though some documents are from 1999 and 2001. There are six series in the collection: Application Process, Contacts, Correspondence, Events, Awards, and Subject files. The Application Process Series consists of materials involving the committee’s application for AllAmerica consideration. These consist primarily of meeting minutes, application drafts, final application submitted, preliminary budgets, and other related materials. The Contacts Series includes contact information for committee members and others involved in the AllAmerica campaign. The Correspondence Series consists of correspondence relating to the All-America effort. Most of the correspondence is either between committee members, including e-mail print-outs, or official letters from the National Civic League. The Events Series includes documents primarily connected with the committee’s presentation at the Louisville, Kentucky convention for All-America finalists. Also in this series, however, are materials relating to fundraising and publicity events in Fargo/Moorhead. The Awards Series is very small but interesting, as it contains awards and certificates bestowed upon the committee and upon Fargo/Moorhead, including its All-America award. Also found here is an awards program from the Louisville, Kentucky All-America City convention. The Subject Files Series includes the committee’s brochures and samples of its signage, as well as clippings from the Fargo Moorhead newspaper, The Forum and a framed copy of the official All-America City Award.
