The Obert Halland Collection is mostly related to his time in the U.S. Navy. It contains his notes taken while training as a Gunner’s Mate at the U.S. Naval Training Station, in Farragut, Idaho. The training objectives were to learn the parts of the gun, maintenance, and handling. Much of the notes are handwritten with sketches of the guns, cartridges, and tools.
