Abstract This handwritten reminiscence covers the author's parents Jacob and Katherine (Wessel) Huber, German Russian immigrants, who came to the United States in 1906 and settled in Mercer County, N.D., near Dodge. To a large extent it documents the entire rural community where they lived and the early residents, most of whom were German Russian. An English translation is included. The Russian passport for Katharina Diringer is dated February 26, 1914 at Cherson, Russia.

Overview Contains typed transcriptions of interviews done by Sara Walden with her mother-in-law, Velva Walden. Discussions center around family life, her German-Russian ancestry with the last three sections devoted to her life in Washington, California and Oregon. Homes in Washington included Ellensburg and Kelso, in California they lived at Gridley, Pittsburg and Antioch, and Coos Bay Oregon. Much of the material appears verbatim in her published book.
