Abstract The Country Club began around 1912. In 1924, its name was changed to the Country Homemakers' Club, located in the Amenia area of Cass County, N.D. It was considered unusual for the time because it was the only one in Cass County that had two meetings a month— "one a social and one a business. The club consists of women who stand out individually as real leaders." Scope and Contents The Edwin and Clara Johnson letters consist of forty-six letters written by Mr. and Mrs. Johnson to Edward R. Sibley of Weston, Massachusetts between 1880 and 1898. His relationship to the family is unknown. The letters are a combination of original letters and typed transcriptions. All are written from their home at Hillsboro (except the first letter which was written from Fargo). The letters document very nicely the lives of a pioneer family in Dakota in the 1880s. Eileen Tuff Diaries

Abstract Iowa native whose family settled near Rugby, North Dakota in 1899. Eileen Tuff kept diaries of her life on the farm, spanning from 1920 to 1947. Her diaries give us a detailed description of life on a farm in North Dakota during the first half of the twentieth century. They show how independent the family was, especially in terms of growing their own food.

Abstract The Ever-Helpful Homemakers Club, organized in 1935 in Pierce County, N.D. consists of a scrapbook with a page devoted to each member that held an office within the club. Many of them include a snapshot of the woman with a list of the offices and other leadership positions they held and what year. It also included a handwritten copy of the club’s constitution.
