Bison Briefs began as bi-monthly publication of North Dakota Agricultural College in January-February 1917, titled College and State. The articles dealt with events and activities of the College. Issues often focused on specific topics, such as education, alumni, the Cadet Corps, commencement, North Dakota, homecoming, high school seniors, et cetera. By December 1928, the Alumni and Former Student Association took over the publication and articles focused more on college and alumni events, activities and news. Due to the Depression, the last issue was in April of 1933. The publication was revived in October 1939 as the quarterly NDAC Alumni Review and continued until August 1959 when it became Bison Briefs. With the exception of a four year period (1990-1993) when a magazine titled Frontiers was published which has yet to be indexed, Bison Briefs has continued as a quarterly publication. These issues are available in hard-copy only at the Institute for Regional Studies and University Archives, located in room 117 at the Skills and Technology Center, 1305 19th Avenue North.
