Front Street in 1909

Front Street in 1909.0

This enlargement of a real photograph postcard is looking east on Front Street from Broadway in 1909.

On the south side of the street, we can see Moody's, the Globe Clothing House, Halpert's European Hotel, Swanson's Clothing & Furnishings, the Owl (cigars), a restaurant, Simsonson Clothiers, and another restaurant. Crossing Fifth Street, we can see Matt Siegel Clothier and the remainder of the businesses are unidentifiable except the last, large white building which is the Fargo House Hotel on the corner of Fourth Street and Front Street.

On the third floor of Moody's, painted in the windows, are signs for the Dakota Conservatory of Music.

On the north side of the street, no businesses are readily identifiable.
