Front Street in 1940
This enlargement of a real photograph postcard is looking west on Front Street from Broadway in about 1940.
On the south side of the street, we can see that several buildings have painted their brick exterior white. What was a cleaners is now Monson's Luggage (with E. W. Johnson, jeweler, upstairs). Fargo Drug is still there with Stuart's on the west, followed by the Federal Bake Shop, the Big Red Grocery and Meat Market, the Times Cafe (used to be the Virginia Cafe), a men's store, and deLendrecie's. Across Seventh Street is the Waldorf Hotel. Businesses further west are not distinguishable.
On the far right of the image, one can see Shotwell Floral in the Northern Pacific Park.
