Important Genealogy Resources
  • Land Patents and other land records are available online in the General Land Office Records of the U.S. Dept of Interior Bureau of Land Management.
  • North Dakota Birth Records Index By state law, only birth records 125 years or older are included in the index.
  • North Dakota Death Records By state law, does not include deaths that have occurred within the past year.
  • North Dakota Marriage Records are available online through the State Historical Society of North Dakota and the North Dakota Health & Human Services.
  • North Dakota Divorce Records The Vital Records Division of did not collect divorce records from the county courts before 1949. Divorce cases prior to 1949 may be found in the county where the divorce case was filed. The State Archives has divorce records for over half of the counties. Records series in the State Archives containing divorces.
  • US Census Records are available online from the National Archives.
