Architectural Asset Development
Abstract
This thesis attempts to elucidate the connection between architecture and how well students perform academically and socially based on how much pleasure they attain from the architecture of their high school campus. The typology for this exploration is a high school campus downsizing renovation. The Theoretical Premise that directs the research is: “Creating an architectural environment that allows teenage students to relish coming to school will make special opportunities available to them that allow them to contribute and feel involved in their school community emotionally and intellectually.” The Project Justification is, “It is a recollection of teachers that high school students judge their campuses as prisons they go to learn at and then escape from at the end of the day. Creating a campus environment that is mentally stimulating and encouraging will allow students to excel academically and socially at their high school by the architectural pride they take in their surroundings.”
