dc.description.abstract | The title of the thesis is Adaptive Learning Center. The building is located in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado and is a 14,000 sq. ft. facility. The typology for this building is an environmental learning center/visitor center. This thesis seeks to answer the question, how can architecture respond to the natural environment? The theoretical premise/unifying idea that defines this thesis is, nature must be understood in order to create architectural forms that provide for human needs, but also exist in harmony with the environment. The project justification is, lasting buildings are often a result of conforming to their natural environment. Therefore, it is essential to understand this relationship between nature and architecture and its implications in order to create better buildings. | en_US |
